Fans of This American Life are familiar with Ira Glass’s idiosyncrasies, but even harded listeners may be surprised at his latest venture. Yes, Glass has covered an Elliott Smith song, on a bonus track that comes with the debut album from Loudon Wainwright III’s daughter, Lucy Waingwright Roache.
“Somewhere along the line Ira made a joke about us doing a song together but we decided to take the joke seriously,” said Roache in a recent interview. There’s a live version of the duet in the clip above—and it’s surprisingly decent. Perhaps Glass should consider flexing his vocal chords in this manner more often?

Kind of he sounds a lot like the dude from the Tallest Man on Earth, right?
