iPod Charity Auction Alert: Bill Clinton Gives Kids the Gift of Song

For the benefit of children everywhere, Bill Clinton has put up for auction an autographed iPod loaded with 11 of his favorite songs. I'll say this: You can’t slight the guy’s social conscience, not for a second.

But what does a former president put on to get in the mood? Here’s Clinton's playlist, which, if you’ll notice, errs to a lighter side of pale:

1. Brown Eyed Girl (Van Morrison)

2. Get Along Without You Very Well (Carly Simon)

3. Bahia (Stan Getz with Charlie Byrd)

4. Bridge Over Troubled Water (Simon & Garfunkel)

5. Crown Imperial (“The Presidents Own” U.S. Marine Band)

6. Angel (Sarah McLachlan)

7. Philadelphia Freedom (Elton John)

8. English Folk Song Suite [1-3] (North Texas Wind Symphony)

9. A Song for You (Willie Nelson)

10. Winds of the Old Days (Joan Baez)

11. Concierto de Aranjuez [1-3] (John Williams)

It appears as if he’s been buying records at the thrift store again… with taxpayer’s money! Also, if we’re doing John Williams, I would probably go with the Star Wars theme, if only to nudge at the Reagan administration. [Gizmodo]

Eleven songs seems kind of cheap.
