Indie supergroup to play McSweeney's benefit
Via Brooklyn Vegan:
Nothing brings the cool music kids together like the cool writer kids. On March 15th at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, cooler-than-cool lit mag McSweeney's will put on a show to raise proceeds for two of Dave Eggers 826 after-school tutoring programs. The musical entertainment that evening will be an indie supergroup that will get the cool kids even more hot and bothered than Swan Lake. Calling themselves Internet, the band features Nick Diamonds of Islands, Hadji Bakara and Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade, and Syd Butler of Les Savy Fav. Comedic relief will be provided by John Hodgman (the PC in those Mac/PC commercials, Daily Show science reporter, and author of The Areas of My Expertise), authors David Rakoff and Joshua Davis, and former Letterman gag writer Rodney Rothman. McSweeney's even promises "extreme power point presentations." Interesting. Head here for ticket info.

Crud. Right when I'll be at SXSW.

Wow, that's pretty cool. Internet huh? That's gotta be a confusing name. It fits with mcsweeney's though. It'd be even better if their name was TBA.

Jeff

*sigh* This sounds like it'll be awesome.
