Doesn't it make you feel old to learn that Morrissey is turning 50? It's been 23 years since The Queen is Dead, you guys.
The Music Slut is concentrating on celebrating, though: starting May 4, they're releasing one Morrissey cover track at a time, ending with the nineteenth track on May 28 (Moz turns 50 on May 22).
The songs will be available for free download every weekday at 4 p.m. Some of the artists include Chris Garneau, Laura Palmer, and The Physics of Meaning. (No Placebo or t.A.T.u. here, whether you consider that a good thing or a bad one.)
They're not stopping there: they're having a party, too!
In addition to the digital LP, we’ll be teaming up with DJ Jess & the team behind Trash! http://www.indierotica.com for an unforgettable extravaganza on the evening of Moz’s 50th birthday. It will be held at New York’s Studio (at Webster Hall) on Friday, May 22nd. The celebration will feature live cover performances from A Brief Smile & Teddy Blanks in addition to a slew of surprises that we can’t reveal just yet. Much more info to come shortly.
