Immortal Technique made his return to music after a few years away with the release The Martyr last week. The 16-track collection of material both new and unreleased has since taken off and amassed what's sure to be hundreds of thousands of downloads. Seriously, it's easily one of the most-visited pages here at Prefix in the past seven days.
One of the most memorable moments on the project came on "Toast to the Dead," a fiery track featuring a beat from the late J Dilla. And to let us all know just how he acquired the instrumental, Immortal Technique sat down for a chat with Dilla's mother, Maureen Yancey, or as most of the hip-hop world knows her, Ma Dukes. Their conversation is one of mutual respect and love, and something we should all take a few minutes to appreciate. Watch the interview below. Photo credit: David Tansey. [Nah Right]
