Last week was College Tournament week on Jeopardy, and since college kids are supposed to know all about indie rock, the vague musical descriptor was used as a category. Here were the questions, followed by the answers:
$400: Ben Gibbard is the lead singer of this band that sounds like a ride a hottie should turn down.
$800: Kingsizemaybe's song "Dallas" recalls the day of this man's assassination.
$1200: L.A.'s Silversun Pickups got their name from a store at the corner of Silver Lake Blvd. & this one with a famous "strip."
$1600: As a child, Jenny Lewis appeared on "Baywatch"; Now she fronts this "Portions for Foxes" band.
$2000: Think twice before kissing these "hot" Oklahoma indie stars who sang "Do You Realize?"
Why is Death Cab for Cutie? (that's answering it in a rhetorical fashion)
Who is JFK?
Where is Sunset Blvd.?
Who are Rilo Kiley?
Who are the Flaming Lips?
The sad part about indie rock being fit for College Jeopardy (besides misunderstanding "indie" since Death Cab, Rilo Kiley and Flaming Lips are signed to major labels) is that the contestants didn't get the last two right. One guy actually answered "Fleet Foxes" for the fourth question, and no one even guessed "Flaming Lips." [The L]

I haven't listened to "Portions for Foxes" in such a long time.
