Marnie Stern, one of the most skilled guitarists in the world right now, male or female, broke through last year with her virtuosic debut In Advance of the Broken Arm. Just as that album has been growing in the public eye, we get word that Stern has set her second Kill Rock Stars album for release on October 7. We've heard a lot of long-named albums in our day but This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That Is That may take the cake in terms of word count. The title may be a method of self-regulation against a Feist-like crossover for Stern, who has a similar unassuming appeal but with a much heavier and experimental sound.
"It" was recorded in San Francisco with Hella's Zack Hill. The track listing is as follows:
01. Prime
02. Transformer
03. Shea Stadium
04. Ruler
05. The Crippled Jazzer
06. Steely
07. The Package Is Wrapped
08. Simon Says
09. Vault
10. Clone Cycle
11. Roads? Where We're Going We Don't Need Roads
12. The Devil's in the Details
In my mind, the more Back to the Future references used as song titles, the better.

really? her last cd was called changing lanes? Not in advance of a broken arm?
