Iggy Pop may have milked everything he can out of The Stooges reunion following the spate of dates in which they'll perform Raw Power—which includes a headline performance at ATP New York later this year. Now the singer is talking about his plans once those shows are in the bag, and he may be recording some unreleased old songs.
"Ultimately I'd like to get into the studio with the group and maybe have a couple old songs, a couple new songs and then a little time to just jam and see what happens,” he said in an interview with Billboard. The Raw Power dates are being undertaken with guitarist James Williamson, who replaced Ron Asheton after he passed away in 2009.
The new material will apparently include work Asheton started before his death, and Pop is enthusiastic about teaming up with original Raw Power guitarist Williamson again. “[He] "is already on me like a greased cat,” he said. “He's sending me riffs, so I did some vocals to a couple of them and it's starting to sound like something."
