So Gawker's music blog, Idolator, went ahead with its idea to carry on the tradition of Robert Christgau's legendary Pazz and Jop poll after the Village Voice unceremoniously canned the Dean and then had the gall to object when Idolator wanted to do a similar year-end critic's survey. The results of the wide-ranging vote are up over at the site. Nothing much strays widely from multiple other year-end lists. TVOTR, Clipse, Joanna Newsom, the Hold Steady, and the Knife show up in the Top 10 albums list, and Gnarls, JT, T.I., and Lupe show up in Top Tracks. You can cruise the individual respondents' ballots list for contributions from Prefix writers, including Matt Gasteier and Adrian Covert.

I voted in this one too. The results are kinda ehh (we'll never be happy) but they avoided the backlash seen here and other places who put up their own tailored lists by doing things the old fashioned democratic way. In that sense it's kinda nice...
