DJ Hero Controller Will Not Teach You How to Scratch

A picture of the official controller for DJ Hero has made its way to the folks at Gizmodo, and let me mirror their disappointment at the thing: given that it prominently features three large buttons on the left side of the "record" the game won't allow you to freely remix and scratch over records, and it's cleary set up as just a turntable version of the Guitar Hero controller.

Now that Activision has more or less ensured that DJ Hero will outsell Scratch, they had the chance to make a game that could actually replicate DJing in a way that Guitar Hero will never mirror real guitar playing, but judging by the controller, they've gone the easy, playable route. DJ Hero is due out this fall. [Gizmodo]

When I saw the photo, my expectations for the game dropped completely. Buttons on the actual record? Ugh.

Maybe they'll have other controllers?

I really hope this photo is a hoax by some amateur photoshopper. If that's really the controller, this game won't be half as fun as solitaire.
