I often like to think that black people are immune to some of the afflictions that affect the American mainstream, such as Crocs, Taylor Swift, and mononucleosis. Unfortunately, recently Kanye West has gone some distance in disproving my thinking with his new retro possibly-ironic mullet. This inspired the Complex magazine blog to go through the whole sordid history of the black mullet, of which Kanye is apparently not the first wearer. According to Romye of the Pharcyde though, this "do" is technically a "shag," and while the black mullet is certainly business in the front, I have my own doubt as to the intensity of the party in the back. Anyway, look at other black mulleteers like Lionel Richie and (60% of) New Edition right here.

Oooh. Huge oversight. I always forget that Stevie B. is black, for some reason. |
