Hugh Laurie Will Not Be In ‘Robocop’ Remake; Clive Owen Now Rumored For Part

Rumors have been circulating over the past few days that Hugh Laurie was in talks to be the villain in the upcoming remake of Robocop. However, those rumors were definitely false, as Variety’s Jeff Sneider recently Tweeted that Laurie was “definitely out of Robocop reboot, not that he was ever ‘in.’”

Now that the House star is out, the rumor mill is starting back up again: ScreenRant reports that MGM is now in talks with Clive Owen to take on the role that was planned for Laurie. The quick casting is due to MGM attempting to get the film completed in time for its August 2013 release date.

The cast for Robocop already includes Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L Jackson and Abbie Cornish. A viral video teaser trailer was released by MGM back in July.
