Tom Krell released his woozy, R&B-inflected debut album as How To Dress Well, Love Remains, in October 2010. Since then, we’ve seen his name all over the place, from tracks with like-minded acts such as Active Child to last summer’s Just Once EP. And even though he’s been spending a lot of time on the road lately, that hasn’t stopped Krell from working on the sophomore HTDW album.
While he hasn’t revealed its name, track listing, or release date, he did give hint at what we can expect to hear on the project in an interview with FACT:
“Beyond that, I’ve just been working hard, very hard on a new record – I’m so incredibly proud of this next LP, it really feels to me like I’ve done exactly what I set out to do, which is a really thrilling thing to be able to say. As an artist, it’s such a rare feeling, to have achieved something that feels definitive – I mean, the record has grown and changed since I first started on it, but it really captures what I’ve been feeling and thinking and what I want my music to be.”
“This next album is about opening my heart, opening myself, to receive an address from myself I’ve been waiting for, for too long. A testament to the power of naive sentiment, the importance of vulnerable wistfulness, and to the rarity of bliss.” [laughs]
Krells also speaks on how he’s looking forward to more SpaceGhostPurrp music this year, what it was like covering Xiu Xiu, and more at FACT Mag.
