How The Beatles Destroyed Rock n' Roll is not a new band, a song, or even a thesis, really. The assertion hardly even serves a purpose in the book of which it titles. But what it will undoubtedly do, is attract a large readership. The new music anthology, How The Beatles Destroyed Rock n' Roll, is largely about alternative music in the last century and why the people who bought it liked it. The emphasis is taken off of the critics who wrote about new developments in music, the historians who taught it and the biographers who preserved it. The book's writer, Elijah Wald, instead poses a few brazen theories and insights into the historic world of rock n' roll, with emphasis placed on the consumers, while at the same time poking and prodding readers' brains to swerve what they thought they knew in a different direction.
