How Jim Morrison Inspired Mathew McConaughey In Dazed & Confused

At this years Oscars, Mathew McConaughey took home Best Actor in a Leading Role for his part in Dallas Buyers Club. For many movie fans though, McConaughey's most famous role will always be as David Wooderson in 1993's Dazed and Confused. McConaughey had many great lines in the film, but one that always stuck out was "alright, alright, alright!"

In an interview with George Stroumboulopoulos that originally aired a few years ago but is now available online, McConaughey talked about the line, and where it came from. While he was driving to his first day of shooting, McConaughey was listening to a live Doors album where lead singer Jim Morrison excitedly yelled "alright, alright, alright, alright!" in between songs. McConaughey thought this line was perfect for his character, who cared about four things: cars, women, weed and rock & roll.
