Houston Mayor Declares Aug. 30 'Bun B Day'

Bun B's pull is bigger than most of us probably realize. As part of UGK, he was (and still is, really) one of the most influential hip-hop acts to date with everyone from Big K.R.I.T. to Drake shouting out the duo as an inspiration. On his own, he has become a returning professor (instructor, really) at Rice University, where he teaches a Hip-Hop & Religion course. And, oh yeah, he has received his own day in Houston, Texas.

That's right, the mayor of Houston, Annise Parker, and the City Council have announced that tomorrow, Aug. 30, is Bun B Day in the Texas city. According to a local blog, the rapper will be the recipient of a formal dedication tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at the City Hall. So all you Bun B and UGK fans looking to show your support, be sure to stop by the government building while bumping some Ridin' Dirty.

Trill, indeed.
