If the titular single and accompanying Jamiroquai-meets-Revenge-of-the-Nerds video weren't enough reasons to check out Hot Chip's upcoming album One Life Stand, which is due Feb. 9 through Astralweks, then this bizarre bit of news probably won't help, but for those who embrace Hot Chip's love of all things nerdy, this should sound, well, still bizarre but in a slightly more awesome way.
Talking to Billboard, Chip's Joe Goddard mentioned that the new record was going to be more emotionally honest, especially lyrically. He specifically pointed to the song "Keep Quiet," which Goddard asserts that he wrote immediately after watching Susan Boyle's now ubiquitous performance of "I Dreamed a Dream" on Britain's Got Talent. "I'd never seen it before and I found it quite incredible," Goddard said.
Strange, I always thought that the killer singer who placed second on a massive reality show contest that Hot Chip would be most in tune with would have been Adam Lambert. [Billboard]
