Last night Nicki Minaj was due to perform at the annual Hot 97 Summer Jam in New York City. But as we reported earlier today, Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg made some disparaging remarks about Minaj’s track “Starships,” and Lil Wayne responded by pulling his Young Money artists out of the event.
This morning Rosenberg and his co-host Cipha Sounds went on air to discuss what happened. Likening her to an unhappy partner who is always looking for a reason to break things off, the pair suggest that Minaj was intimidated by the crowd, “didn’t want to do Summer Jam” and simply used Rosenberg’s remarks to engineer a situation where she wouldn’t have to perform. "You gave her a nice scapegoat," concluded Cipha.
Listen to Rosenberg and Cipha below and tell us if you agree with their analysis. [Flex]
