Jordan Geiger put in a lot of work before opting to settle down with his solo project, Hospital Ships. Over the years, he was essentially the primary songwriter for Minus Story; toured as a multi-instrumentalist with Shearwater; and played in the Appleseed Cast. During that time, he also began Hospital Ships, which he debuted in 2008 with Oh, Ramona.
The collection of psych/bedroom-pop included influences from the Flaming Lips to the Zombies. And it caught on well enough to lead him to stick with the name. Now, three years later, he's readying the release of his sophomore effort, Lonely Twin, on Graveface Records. The album is a slightly darker affair than what was heard on Oh, Ramona, though it still features some more optimistic sentiments delivered over catchy, poppy grooves.
