Hollis, Queens Street Corner Named for Run-DMC

Run-DMC will finally be memorialized in the very place they began when a street corner in Hollis, Queens, is renamed for the rap trio. The New York City Council today approved a measure that will turn 205th Street and Hollis Avenue into RUN DMC JMJ Way. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is expected to sign off on the bill to make it official. 

"JMJ" recognizes Jason Mizell, aka Jam Master Jay, Run-DMC's DJ and the group's third founding member. Mizell was murdered in 2002. The killing remains unsolved. [Daily Swarm]
