OK, so the Minnesota Twins don't exactly have the celebrity appeal of the New York Yankees. But the Hold Steady's singer-guitarist Craig Finn sure likes the team, and he's written and recorded a new anthem that's dropped just around the time the team became the first in baseball to clinch their division.
"Don't Call Them Twinkies," as the song is called, was recorded as part of The Baseball Project, a musical collective that composes songs about the sport that's made up of Steve Wynn of the Dream Syndicate and Peter Buck of R.E.M., among others.
The group will release a full album next year, but for now, "Don't Call Them Twinkies" can be heard over at the Minnesota Public Radio's site.
