Brooklyn-founded rockers The Hold Steady are looking to begin work on their sixth LP this coming summer. According to Rolling Stone, frontman Craig Finn says the band has roughly a dozen songs ready for the new record, which they began writing last November. Additionally, Finn and company have already begun performing some of the new songs on their current touring stint, including the "advice song" "Wait Awhile."
Back in January, Finn dropped his Clear Heart Full Eyes debut solo album. When asked how his solo career will affect the new material, Finn responded, "The solo stuff is what I guess I would consider more traditional songwriting, as most people think of it. The band thing is so different because it comes much more out of the riffs, and I just worry about the lyrics. A lot of it is me just trying to find places to sing in between all the other noise."
