Your friends in The Hold Steady are doing you a favor in this ungodly heat: if you go to the band’s MySpace, you can stream their new album, Stay Positive, in its entirety. And what’s the first track? “Constructive Summer.”
The album is good by the way, but too heavy on the down-tempo numbers. Early faves are first single “Sequestered in Memphis,” “One for the Cutters,” “Magazines,” and “Slapped Actress.”
Stay Positive hits stores on July 15 via Vagrant stateside (Rough Trade is handling UK distribution on July 14). [Stereogum]

I agree, too many songs that just don't go anywhere - but the good ones are really good.
