Top Shelf raises questions about old-school cred

Top Shelf 8/8/88, supposedly a collection of never-before-released recordings by early hip-hop heavyweights such as Biz Markie, Doug E. Fresh, and Big Daddy Kane has the hip-hop community scratching its head. Is the album a treasure trove of old-school hip-hop or a shrewd marketing ploy to make Mike Dukakis and the Pontiac Fiero relevant again?
