Heroes soundtrack to feature Dylan, Bowie, and Zune-exclusive videos
Bob Dylan and David Bowie are among a host of artists to be featured on a soundtrack for NBC’s Heroes. While Bowie offered the obvious “Heroes,” Dylan’s contribution is the slightly lesser known “Man in the Long Black Coat” from his 1989 album Oh Mercy. Filling out the album with original tunes will be acts such as Wilco (“Glad It’s Over), Panic at the Disco (“Nine in the Afternoon”), Imogen Heap (“Not Now, But Soon”), and Brighton Port Authority together with Iggy Pop (“He’s Frank”). The soundtrack will be available in both CD and electronic formats on March 18, and starting on February 29 a series of videos featuring songs from the soundtrack and scenes from the show will be available for free download at the Zune website. The first song offered will be Nada Surf’s “Weightless”. There was no word at press time if any of the footage would feature George “Mr. Sulu” Takei or the versatile Nissan Versa. [Reuters]

My Morning Jacket, Jesus and Mary Chain, and Death Cab are also in the mix. Maybe MMJ will be on season three as some kind of hairy Voltron that defends Kentucky.
