Andrew Butler's pansexual disco outfit Hercules and Love Affair's self-titled debut LP will finally see American release June 24, via the London-based Mute label. Seeing as DFA dropped the album on British audiences March 10, it's slightly ironic that the Brooklyn group's sound, rooted as it is in Chicago House and Detroit Techno, is more commercially and aesthetically viable overseas. Maybe the Day-Glo excess of nu-rave prepared the U.K. for the group's heady mix of techno-classicism and innovation? Mute will also be issuing the superb Antony-featuring single “Blind” on May 27. By then, maybe we'll have forgotten all about Justice's crunchy eurodisco.
