Herbie Hancock, guests get in on more Joni love

Having just been the subject of a Nonesuch tribute album on which artists such as Bjork, Sufjan Stevens, and Prince reworked her songs, recent Starbucks Hear Music signee Joni Mitchell will again get the tribute album treatment from jazz legend Herbie Hancock and assorted guests. September 25 is the slated release date for River: The Joni Letters, coming via Verve. Among those taking vocal turns with Mitchell’s songs this time around are Leonard Cohen, Tina Turner, Norah Jones, and Corinne Bailey Rae. Mitchell herself shows up to sing on a new version of her song “The Tea Leaf Prophecy.”
