You might have first heard Helmet in 1990 with their debut album Strap It On or you might have played "Unsung" on the first Guitar Hero game, but their aggressive rock sound has been consistently pounding listeners for over 20 years. Now, band leader Page Hamilton (the only original member left) is getting ready to release Seeing Eye Dog, Helmet's first album in four years. After a fallout with previous label Warcon Records, Helmet has gone over to Work Song, which is owned by the band's manager. Even though Hamilton just celebrated his 50th birthday, don't expect a new lyrical focus: as he told Examiner, "I like to question things, but I don't want to get up on a soapbox and preach to people through my songs." Good to know they're keeping it heavy.
The album comes out in September; Helmet will embark on a world tour after that. [Consequence of Sound]
