HearWhere gives a more complete view of local music scenes

Most music fans have a list of bands on a "must see" list. I periodically check in with websites for My Morning Jacket, Wilco, and the Drive By Truckers, jsut to make sure that I'm not going to miss out on any shows. What happens, then, when Saturday rolls around and none of my favorite bands are anywhere near the vicinity? I could sit home and watch reruns, or find somewhere to go see a concert using HearWhere. The website, which doesn't require any kind of registration, will list concerts being held in your area on a given day within a defined radius. A quick dry run using my hometown tagged most familiar as well as some record store events. The service would be particularly handy for spur of the moment concerts, but its focus on smaller venues robs music lovers of an excuse for not supporting the local musicscene. [LHB]
