Sigur Ros and Cameron Crowe have a good relationship: The director used the band's music in Vanilla Sky, giving them their ostensible breakthrough beyond the realm of nerdy post-rock pre-blogs. Now Jonsi of Sigur Ros is returning the favor: He composed the soundtrack to Crowe's new film, We Bought a Zoo, and even collaborated with Crowe on a track.
That track, "Gathering Stories," premiered on NPR today, and you can stream it over there. It sounds like a typical Jonsi solo jam, but with more kid-friendly instrumentation. It reminds me of Karen O's soundtrack for Where The Wild Things Are.
The soundtrack is due out on Dec. 13, while the film hits theaters on Dec. 23.
