HeadCount to register music-loving voters

HeadCount, a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization ''"devoted to voter registration and participation in democracy,''" announced on November 6 that it plans to register as many as 200,000 new voters in the coming year. The group will deploy ''"street teams''" of volunteers to recruit voters at over 500 concerts this year and is now registering voters during ex-Grateful Dead bassist, Phil Lesh'''s fall tour. In the next year, HeadCount will be hard at work at concerts given by the Dave Matthews Band, Santana, and Maroon 5. A complete list of the artists is on the group'''s website http://www.HeadCount.org. Volunteers''who work both locally and even go on tour with the musicians''can sign up online, which is where non-Jam band loving, non-Dead Head types can register to vote as well. [Reuters]
