Hardly Art to Release Carissa's Wierd's Compilation

Does anyone recall Carissa's Wierd? (That not a typo -- that's the way they spelled it.) They were a an indie "sadcore" band out of Seattle that played chamber rock before that sound became common. They're also known for being Mat Brooke's band before he formed the far more popular Band of Horses.

The group recorded for the Brown and Sad Robot labels and most -- if not all -- of its music is out of print. But come July 13, a best-of compilation called They'll Only Miss You When You Leave: Songs 1996-2003 will be issued by Hardly Art Records -- a subsidiary of Sub Pop, Band of Horses' label. The label also says that the band's three proper full-lengths will eventually be reissued. These include Ugly But Honest, You Should Be at Home Here, and Songs About Leaving.

For fans, the track list of the forthcoming compilation is below. As a refresher, here's a taste of what Carissa's Wierd sounded like: "The Color That Changed Your Eyes."
