Hank Williams Jr. pondering run for United States Senate

Before scoffing or making a snarky comment, consider two things: Ronald Reagan received the same reaction initially and then went on to cast a political shadow from which we are only now emerging, and if this was Bruce Springsteen or Sean Penn, would the knee-jerk reaction be to make fun? Though this is of course still in the rumor stages, it seems that Bocephus has left his rowdy friends behind to run Republican and join fellow conservatives Fred Thompson and Fred Grandy as entertainers turned lawmakers. The second generation Nashville icon spent a lot of time out on the campaign trail with Sarah Palin and has discussed his candidacy with Senate Republicans Lamar Alexander and Bill Frist. Hopefully if elected, he will still remember what it takes for the average country boy to survive. [CMT]
