Hacker Group Anonymous Shuts Down Sites For Justice Dept., RIAA, MPAA, And Universal Music In Retaliation For Megaupload

It was big news early Thursday when, after the SOPA and PIPA protest blackouts of Jan. 18, federal prosecutors took down major filesharing site Megaupload, and indicted its employees.

Now it would appear that the worldwide hacker organization Anonymous has retaliated by attacking the websites for the United States Department of Justice, the Recording Industry Association of America, the Motion Picture Association of America, and Universal Music Group. The Twitter AnonOps is claiming responsiblity for the interruption in those websites’ operations.
