Gutter Twins album gets name, release date

Long in gestation, the first album from the Gutter Twins, the indie all-star duo of Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan, is now scheduled for a March 4 release. The record is named Saturnalia. It will be released by Sub Pop, interesting since both Lanegan and Dulli are alums of the label, Lanegan from a string of folksy, mid-career solo albums and Dulli from his early days in the Afghan Whigs. Dulli says of the album "I couldn't tell you what Saturnalia's theme is, but there's a seeking of transcendence that's new. I have never written songs like this before; it's a different temple I'm visiting."
The band will put on a series of shows in the U.S. and Europe to promote Saturnalia. The two on these shores go down February 14 at New York's Bowery Ballroom and March 1 at San Francisco's Bimbo's (as part of Noise Pop).
