Guns N' Roses launch stunt to promote Chinese Democracy

With Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy receiving less than thrilling reviews, the publicity team at Interscope is working overtime to drum up some publicity for the record. Axl Rose has already burnt through millions of dollars in his attempts to get Chinese Democracy finished, and now it seems yet more cash is being spent on the album.

Fans in London were among the first to officially receive Chinese Democracy, with Interscope allowing 15 record stores to sell the album one day ahead of its scheduled release. A team of 100 or so cycle couriers, all clad in red, delivered the record to the stores. You can almost picture the marketing team at the band's label slapping each other on the back as they came up with the idea of releasing the first Guns N' Roses album in 15 years to 15 stores. Clearly there aren't many future Don Draper's working at Interscope.

Londoner Scott Mitchell is believed to be the first person to hand over some actual money for the record. “It's great to be the first to finally own what we thought we'd never see,” said Mitchell, who appears to be blissfully unaware that countless internet users  have already illegally downloaded the album online.

But it is SO BAD. Is nostalgia really this powerful?

Less than thrilling? It's actually been getting some solid reviews almost all over... rolling stone, chart attack (who hate GNR), Chuck K, MTV, etc. Do a Google search. Aside from the times review the only negatives have really been the wait... but what does that have to do with the quality of the songs? I don't care how long it took to record. It's a bunch of songs in the end, and it's better than I expected.

"Less than thrilling?" Ahhh the media; always twisting things to get more readers... The reviews have been solid from most music mags.

Listen to the TUNES. Does it matter that Axl is a robot created by MIT or a sentient banana molding in your fridge, reciting Gordon Ramsay recipes? Who cares. Good music is good music. Overall the Chinese Democracy album is interesting, diverse, eclectic, satisfying, overwrought and extremely, extremely well mixed. Tunes aren't people so just listen and go from there...
