Guitar Hero III is the first videogame to make $1 billion
Activision has announced that Guitar Hero III has eclipsed the $1 billion mark in overall sales, becoming the first game to ever reach that total in sales. The entire franchise eclipsed the $1 billion mark last year.
Of course, Activision sees this as the new model for music sales, and that Guitar Hero is the latest technological advancement in musical distribution (like the CD or 8-track). I'm not sure that that videogames are the future, but the astronomical sales are a bright spot for the music business. [Beatcrave]

$1 billion. Wow. I remember thinking the game was fun, but too simple to ever catch on the first time I played the game. I should've started a video game site too. Stoopid music site!

I remember playing a primordial version of the game in an arcade where you played Muzak, and thinking "This is incredibly stupid. The only way I'd play this is if they had real songs."
