The recent launch of a drum set into the war with Rock Band for fake music supremacy could have been a clever to smoke screen to mask Guitar Hero’s true intent of establishing a beachhead in the handheld gaming market. Though the Guitar Hero franchise already exists in this genre on single play machines that went out of style twenty years ago, true virtual shredders everywhere will be getting their due when the game debuts on Nintendo’s DS gaming system. To celebrate the launch of Guitar Hero On Tour, Nintendo is releasing a special bundled package that includes the game and fret peripheral along with a metallic silver embossed DS that would make the Nuge proud. Though no price has been set for the set, the information all but immaterial. No amount of money is too great to pay for the ability to let everybody on the subway know that you can virtually shred Dragonforce. [Gizmodo]
