Being an aficionado isn't just for cigars anymore! Guitar Aficionado will launch later this Spring on a quarterly publishing schedule. The promotional material says that Guitar Aficionado will seek an audience that "routinely spend five figures for an instrument and who consider the guitar an object of art." The magazine also wants readers who "live life with a rock and roll and can afford to indulge their passions, desires, and ambitions however they please." But Guitar Aficionado, which will retail for $7.99, will not just be a catalog for the upscale, but also focus on the "mavericks" who purchase and play these pieces of art. The first profile is none other than television action star Kiefer Sutherland, which might just be the savviest marketing decision ever made. I'd lay pretty even odds if a guy who can drop figures on a guitar (and is interested in reading a magazine about it) is asked who he would trade places with, Jack Bauer would be in the top three. That only leaves the problem of next month. Does Bill O'Reilly play guitar? [Idolator]
