Gruff Rhys Releasing Album With Brazilian TV Repair Man

· by

Last time we heard from Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys he was shooting a film about his long lost Patagonian uncle (see trailer above). Now, he’s about to execute a similarly bizarre project, by teaming up with a Brazilian TV repair man named Tony Da Gatorra for a new record.

Gatorra is a renowned singer in his homeland, where he is famous for playing a guitar that doubles up as a drum machine. “This record was made with lots of feelings and true love to bring consciousness and show a little bit of truth that needs to be said without hypocrisy,” said the Brazilian, in an attempt to explain the album that only makes it less clear.

Rhys apparently ran into Gatorra while filming his movie Separado! and ultimately rehearsed with him for five days before recording the album, titled The Terror of Cosmic Loneliness, in a mere five hours. Expect to hear it some time in late July, and there will even be a few live dates for lucky U.K. fans.
