Music Supervisor for Twilight Alexandra Patsavas (the lady who brought you these hilarious end credits) has decided to pull out all the stops for Twilight sequel New Moon, and she's wringing her Internet connection for all of its worth.
In addition to New Moon director Chris Weitz's previious statements that Bon Iver and Thom Yorke have written new songs for the soundtrack, and Death Cab for Cutie's contribution, The New York times confirmed today that Beyonce and Solange's favorite, Grizzly Bear, will also appear on the New Moon soundtrack. Yup.
Patsavas tried to explain to the Times the shift from bands like Paramore, Linkin Park, and Collective Soul, to bands like Grizzly Bear, Thom Yorke, and Bon Iver, as having to do with the movie's content: "This is a much more somber movie than Twilight. There is a lot of love lost, so the artists that are going to make up the soundtrack reflect that longing-- a lot of acoustic instruments, a lot of a cappella singing. This soundtrack definitely feels a bit more indie than the last one."
Sure, this whole big aesthetic turnaround probably has absolutely nothing to do with marketing the movie to a different audience. Nothing at all.
