For a whole year Grizzly Bear'''s Edward Droste had been nagging bandmate Daniel Rossen to do a cover Jo Jo'''s ''"Too Little Too Late.''" Finally, on Droste'''s twenty-ninth birthday, he was given a cover of the song as a surprise. There is no just denying it; this is -- like most of the songs in the repertoires of these pop princesses -- a solidly good pop song (i.e., very catchy). Although, unlike the right-wing-leaning actress/singer'''s equally -- though differently -- earnest original, Rosen'''s slightly haunted version manages to sincerely capture some real pain. Like most pop songs, it does go on a tad too long but otherwise it's very nicely done and Rossen doesn'''t come across as too self-satisfied. Wonder if there is a dance routine that goes along with this version? [Grizzly Bear]
