Green Lantern working with Nas on The Nigger Tape

After months of controversy, reports came in last week that Nas finally lost the battle with Universal to name his upcoming album Nigger, yet he is nowhere near done with the contentious issue. Al Sharpton and others who had denounced Nas for his title rejoiced at this last-minute change, but the rapper is still planning to release The N****r Tape, a street mixtape hosted by DJ Green Lantern.

“I guess it shows you the power of Wal-Mart and Target,” confesses Green Lantern about the late verdict. “If that was the case, it’s definitely scary because it kinda fucks with your artistic vision.”

He revealed that the mixtape will include about ten exclusive songs and remixes, including a track called “Black President” that was originally intended for his upcoming Barack Obama mixtape.

“It’s obviously gonna make the tape bigger and round it out more. It’s actually better for [Nas] because it’s a super-positive song. It kinda balances out any negative comments about him going this N-word route.”

Green Lantern also recently produced and put together the soundtrack to Grand Theft Auto IV, which sold six million copies worldwide its first week. [Rhapsody]
