Green Day's New Live Album Will Surely Not Live Up To Its Title

· by

In March, Reprise will release Awesome As Fuck, a live CD/DVD documenting Green Day's recent world tour, including some footage from their two night stint at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan last year, as seen in the trailer above. Odds are the album will be pretty heavy on the group's more recent American Idiotand 21st Century Breakdown material, so all of you who aged through punk rock 15 years ago and still secretly want to see a live performance of Dookie in its entirety are out of luck. But, for the grownups that Green Day are, they seem to have the crowd rocking pretty hard. And while their show doesn't seem to be as operatic as their recent material, there is a saxophone. So that's something.

I'm not too sure about the track listing actually - I don't think it's going to be too heavy on recent tracks.

I went to three of Green Day's shows (Manchester, London & Glasgow) this summer and they played tons of awesome older tracks - loads of Dookie.

Some crowds at other shows even got tracks from pre-Dookie, like Paper Lanterns, so I'm really optimistic about the songs that'll be on it!

Your so f***in wrong they are going to live up to the title!!! julian can suck it if he thinks they aint kick ass!

LOL, they played my fave songs from Kerplunk & 39/smooth =") That's even pre-Dookie ^^ And by the way, bands that still play an entire album that came out like 17 years ago are bands that are no more succesful and trying to stretch it as long as they can ... Thank god Green Day doesn't do that ;)

Anyone who has ACTUALLY gone to one of their concerts will agree that the name is perfect!

Lynn

Although it has been YEARS since I have seen Green Day in concert ("Insomniac" and "Warning" tours... seriously, ages ago), I must agree with Lynn. The name for the album is perfect if in reflection of their performance.
