Green Day announced their new album, 21st Century Breakdown, yesterday, and today the band has leaked the cover, which is to your left. The album is due out in May (a firm date has not been announced).
To me, the cover looks an awful lot like Blur's Think Tank cover, but I guess there's only so many ways you can make a grimy looking photo of a couple embracing. [NME]
God, stay away from Stereogum's comments thread about this story. (Actually, just stay away from Stereogum). If Green Day can put out another album that even comes close to matching what they accomplished from Warning to Foxboro Hot Tubs (can something be underrated if it was never really rated at all?), who gives a damn if they're a bunch of 40 year olds in teenagers clothing. They write better tunes and play with more passion than just about anything that gets puked out of Brooklyn these days. Color me excited.
