In some ways, it's surprising that it's taken this long, but according to a report on the Playlist, The Grateful Dead are set to get their very own Across the Universe, as a movie company is developing a movie about Haight Ashbury in the '60s and '70s.
For those of you who are not familiar, Across the Universe was a movie built around Beatles songs, and it was pretty awful. But it undoubtedly helped bring the Beatles to another generation, as the film's love story gave the Beatles songs' unneeded context, but at least attached them to new visuals.
So now we're maybe only a few years from hearing "Box of Rain" while some couple realizes their hippie dreams in San Francisco in 1969. Yay? [DS]
