Graphic: Where Does SXSW 2012's Lineup Hail From?
Here's a great breakdown of where--that is, geographically--the 500 acts playing this year's SXSW come from. With the music schedule spanning from March 13-18 and held in its usual home of Austin, Texas, 237 artists (47 percent) come from the United States.The UK and Canada follow at second and third, being represented by 68 and 43 acts respectively.
More interesting, though, are the countries offering between one and five performers. Estonia and Mozambique, for instance, will each have two acts at the festival. Portugal, Singapore, Russia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and others have one. However, back on the domestic front, it should be noted that the festival's home state of Texas has got a slight lead on the others with 51 artists.
