Grandmaster Flash to release book and new album

Grandmaster FlashThey don't call him Grandmaster for nothing. Flash (née Joseph Saddler) virtually invented the two-turntable DJ loop, and, along with the rest of his Furious Five, released some of early hip-hop's epochal cuts, such as "Beat Street," "White Lines" and "The Message." The DJ is now preparing both a new book, The Grandmaster Flash Story, and a new album, The Bridge, for release in 2008. Writer David Ritz, who has also written memoirs on Marvin Gaye and Ray Charles, wrote the book. Grandmaster Flash currently hosts a radio show on the Sirius Satellite network.

It's good to see that someone whose life is actually worth a book is writing one.
