Grammys give George Martin his props

Last night in L.A., legendary Beatles producer George Martin received a Grammy Leadership Award for his lifetime of astounding acheivements. Jeff Beck, Tom Jones, and Burt Bacharach paid tribute to the 82-year-old hitmaker by performing tunes from the vast catalog of Martin productions. Martin's 36-year-run of number-one pop hits is a record (no pun intended), and the Grammy gang has dubbed him the most successful producer of all time.

Surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were touring and couldn't be present, but Beatle widows Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison were on hand to deliver testimonials to Martin. Martin's CV includes much more than the Fab Four, though; over the years he's produced everyone from Elton John and Earth, Wind & Fire to America and Ultravox.
