Grammys Announce More Performers; M.I.A. Due to Give Birth on Date of Ceremony

The oft maligned Grammys have added even more performers to the lineup of this year’s ceremony. The newly announced list includes Stevie Wonder, Robin Thick, Terence Blanchard and Allen Toussaint. These musicians join an already lengthy list of big name (and surprisingly contemporary) artists set to appear, including Rihanna, Radiohead, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Paul McCartney (backed on drums by Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl), Adele, Jennifer Hudson, Estelle, Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Jonas Brothers, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, T.I., Kanye West and U2.

Also scheduled to perform, it should be noted, is a very, very pregnant M.I.A. In fact, the singer is due to give birth on the date of the ceremony, giving this year’s Grammys the potential to be more exciting than any we’ve seen for at least the last decade.

The 51st Grammy Awards will be broadcast this Sunday on CBS. [Billboard, NME]
